Pet Spotlight
To show our care for animals at Knox County Veterinary Services, we will select a variety of pets to be in the spotlight.
Guus
Owner: Barbourville City Police
Guus's story is not the usual man & his best friend type of story. Guus is a professional dog with extensive training. Guus was taken to two K9 specialists and treated for fairly common dental problem. However, he then developed a bacterial disease called Pseudomonas that quickly destroys the flesh. The dental specialists were at a loss to identify this problem. Drs. Mark & Tammy Smith came to recue of Guus, gathering information and details as to how to battle this very rare disease. They quickly found the correct medications and worked diligently to save Guus, my partner and my best friend. Today Guus is still a working drug dog for the Barbourville City Police Department. Kenneth Williamson, Unit #49

Simon
Owner: Dr. Mark Smith
Simon is Dr. Smith's favorite dog! He has had Simon for almost 15 years and despite starting to show his age a little now--he's still going strong, following Dr. Smith everywhere he goes and serving as Chairman of the Board of Knox County Veterinary Services!
Buford
Owner: Dawn Hoskins
Buford was recued off the streets by Dr. Mark & Tammy. They kept him for a few weeks, gave him his vaccinations, deworming, and put back in a healthy state. Now he has found a new home! He is very playful, full of energy and enjoying his 2nd chance at a wonderful life here in Barbourville after being adopted by Dawn Hoskins!
