In case you need to evacuate due to an emergency, it is always a good idea to keep stocked on pet supplies in sturdy containers that can be carried easily and grabbed at a moment's notice. In your disaster kit, you should include:
  • Medications & medical records
  • A first aid-kit
  • Leashes, harnesses, and carriers
  • Current photos and descriptions of your pets for identification
  • Food and water for at least 3 days for each pet, bowls, cat litter & litter box, and a manual can opener
  • The name and number of your veterinarian
  • Pet beds and toys
  • Other useful items include newspapers, paper towels, plastic trash bags, grooming items, and household bleach
